Set Name: French 20 Franc Type Set

Set Theme: Type set of 20 Franc gold coins from 1804 through 1914.

Set Description: This is a set of 20 Franc gold coins beginning in 1803-1804 (AN12). Decimal gold coinage first appeared in France in 1802-1803(ANXI). These years ANXI-AN14 are measured from the middle of 1791. Coins dated AN13 were minted in 1804-1805 and coins dated AN14 were minted in 1805-1806. Each major type is included and described. When minted each coin weighed 6.4516 grams of .900 gold. Pure gold content is 0.1867 troy ounces. Coins in this set have the following mintmarks: A=Paris, R=London (1915 only) and W=Lille.
